Sebastian Residents Hunker Down for Hurricane Isaias

While Isaias has weakened to a tropical storm, it will re-strengthen to a Category 1 hurricane overnight. The storm is moving northwest at 9 mph with maximum sustained winds of 70 mph.

In Sebastian, we can expect strong tropical storm to borderline hurricane conditions. Hurricane Isaias will be near the Florida coast tonight and Sunday. There is low to moderate threat for flooding and moderate beach erosion.

Sebastian will experience tropical storm conditions Sunday morning, with the maximum impact period between 12 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday. We can experience peak winds of 55-70 mph, with gusts up to 80 mph.

Isaias is a small storm, but the winds can cause dangerous conditions in our area. Don’t let your guard down until this storm passes.

Stay safe and hunker down as high winds and rain move into tonight in Sebastian. We will get through this like we always do. We’ve been through worst hurricanes than Isaias.
