VERO BEACH — A 22-year-old Vero Beach man was arrested Thursday after an investigation into a Dropbox account that authorities said contained child sexual abuse material, according to an Indian River County Sheriff’s Office arrest affidavit.
Brent Peterson Sauveur was taken into custody at his home in the 1400 block of 26th Court SW around 12:57 p.m. on Oct. 29. He faces 10 felony counts of possession of child sexual abuse material under Florida Statute 827.071(5)(a). No bond was set.
The case began with a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children in April after Dropbox flagged files associated with the email address and the username brennntie. Investigators with the South Florida Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force reviewed the tip in May and identified videos that appeared to depict the sexual abuse of young children.
Subpoenas to Comcast and Google linked the account and related IP addresses to the 26th Court address and to Sauveur. A search warrant for the Dropbox account was signed by Circuit Judge Rebecca White and executed. Deputies said the warrant return confirmed the previously identified videos along with additional files depicting children being sexually abused.
On Oct. 29, Indian River County Detectives went to the residence. After being read his Miranda rights, Sauveur admitted the Dropbox account belonged to him, that he knew the material was on it, and that he had possessed it. He also told investigators he had sold videos online and had received $40 for one video in the past, according to the affidavit.
Detectives noted that a 5-year-old girl lived at the home. Sauveur denied any sexual abuse involving her, and the affidavit states no evidence was found to support that allegation at the time of his arrest. A cell phone was seized for further examination under a separate search warrant.
Sauveur remained in the Indian River County Jail on a $500,000 bond.
