SEBASTIAN – The Sebastian Police Department is investigating some bones that were found Sunday in a vacant lot next to the cemetery on U.S. Highway 1, across from the Walmart store.

“Bones were found when the property was being cleared, we roped it off until we could get there in daylight,” Sebastian Police Chief Michelle Morris told Sebastian Daily.

There is limited information about what was found.

“We are examining the area as a citizen found some yet to be determined bones at the site,” Commander John Blackledge told Sebastian Daily.

Crime Scene is at the location this morning to transport the bones to medical examiners. They will determine if they are from a human or an animal.

We will follow up on any further development of this story.
