Why the fundraiser matters
Every dollar raised supports housing assistance, supportive services, and pathways to stability for local veterans. The Homeless Services Council reports it has already assisted 833 veterans through its programs and provided 4,078 services to 160 veteran households through the Supportive Services for Veteran Families (SSVF) program.
The Treasure Coast Homeless Services Council serves as the lead Continuum of Care agency for Indian River, St. Lucie, and Martin counties. Its SSVF work focuses on preventing and rapidly ending homelessness among very low-income veteran households through case management, temporary financial assistance, and connections to VA and community resources.
Veterans Village refers to efforts to convert a former motel in St. Lucie County into a shelter prioritizing veterans, with the council expected to operate it and provide wraparound services. Veterans Point Place is another housing initiative tied to the same overall goal of giving local veterans stable places to live.
How to attend or get involved
The evening is open to the public. Organizers encourage people to come for the food and beer, stay for the raffle and auction, and help support the housing projects. Contact Camille Smilen at the Homeless Services Council by email camille@tchelpspot.org.
The fundraiser aligns with the council’s ongoing work and the community’s support for local veterans. It is one of several efforts on the Treasure Coast to reduce homelessness among those who have served.
