A 70-year-old Barefoot Bay man was killed Thursday night while attempting to cross U.S. Highway 1.

The Florida Highway Patrol tells Sebastian Daily that the crash is still being investigated.

Troopers say that David McClellan, 58, of Sebastian, was driving north on U.S. Highway 1 when a pedestrian was crossing the roadway.

The unidentified man was struck just before 9 p.m. near the intersection of U.S. Highway 1 and Grove Drive near Barefoot Bay.

The FHP has not released the identity of the man who was killed pending family notification.

The crash remains under investigation.
