COVID-19 update for Indian River County.

This is an update on coronavirus cases in Indian River County and Brevard County, Florida.

State health department officials are not providing us with the number of “recoveries” in Indian River and Brevard counties. We’ve asked for this information repeatedly. This is what they sent us.

“The State Department of Health does not currently measure ‘recovery,’ and doesn’t expect to have such a designation anytime in the near future,” officials said.

We have now included the city of Palm Bay in this list of cases.

Local:

  • Sebastian: 8 cases
  • Fellsmere: 1 case
  • Palm Bay: 35 cases
  • Malabar: 1 case
  • Grant-Valkaria: 1 case
  • Barefoot Bay: 1 case
  • Micco: 0 cases
  • Vero Beach: 56 cases

Indian River County has a population of 154,000. The patients are 60% men and 40% women between the ages of 8 to 94.

Indian River County Coronavirus Cases

  • Cases: 83 (8 non-residents)
  • Deaths: 2
  • Tested Negative: 1,157
  • Hospitalizations: 22
  • Awaiting Results: 62

Brevard County has a population of 590,000. The patients are 50% men and 50% women between the ages of 1 to 94.

Brevard County Coronavirus Cases

  • Cases: 209 (7 non-residents)
  • Deaths: 7
  • Tested Negative: 4,915
  • Hospitalizations: 39
  • Awaiting Results: 2

The total number of cases, deaths, and people who have tested negative in Florida.

Florida

  • Cases: 25,269 (692 non-Florida residents)
  • Deaths: 740
  • Tested Negative: 221,258
  • Hospitalizations: 3,680

Here’s some data on the number of new cases per day in Florida:

  • 4/9 – 1,052 cases
  • 4/10 – 1,104 cases
  • 4/11 – 1081 cases
  • 4/12 – 830 cases
  • 4/13 – 958 cases
  • 4/14 – 604 cases
  • 4/15 – 919 cases
  • 4/16 – 1,220 cases
  • 4/17 – 1,112 cases

So far, the new cases in Florida peaked on April 2nd and April 3rd.

  • Deaths: 37,087
  • Recoveries: 60,523

Global

The total number of cases, deaths, and people who have recovered from the virus around the world.

  • Cases: 2,274,800
  • Deaths: 156,140
  • Recoveries: 579,690

Sebastian

Cleveland Clinic, Indian River Hospital, is providing drive-through testing by appointments from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days a week. To make an appointment, call the hospital at 772-226-4846.

For now, if you are 65 or older, or have an illness or chronic condition, please stay home.

If you need need groceries or other items delivered to your home, call Blue River Delivery at 772-643-6880.
