INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Indian River Transit’s GoLine has received its first national award from the American Public Transportation Association, taking the 2026 Outstanding Public Transportation System honor in the category for systems that provide fewer than 3 million annual passenger trips.
APTA said this year’s field was the most competitive in the category’s history. The awards committee selected GoLine unanimously.
GoLine is the county’s zero-fare, fixed-route bus system and is operated under contract by the Senior Resource Association. In fiscal year 2024-25 the system recorded 1,594,170 passenger trips, a 17.2% increase from the previous year and its largest annual ridership gain since fiscal year 2011-12.
Senior Resource Association Board of Directors President and CEO Karen Deigl thanked riders for the trust they place in the system each day. She also recognized GoLine employees for their focus on safety, professionalism and customer service, along with community partners, the Indian River County Board of County Commissioners and county staff for their longstanding support.
The national recognition adds to a string of state and national honors. GoLine was named Outstanding System of the Year by the Florida Public Transportation Association in 2017, 2022 and 2025. In 2018, Indian River Transit — including GoLine and Community Coach — received the Community Transportation Association of America’s Urban Community Transportation System of the Year award.
GoLine operates 14 fixed routes that link residents to jobs, schools, medical care, shopping, beaches and other destinations throughout Indian River County. Service runs Monday through Saturday. All buses are ADA-accessible and carry bicycle racks.
The award will be presented Oct. 6 during APTA’s 2026 Honors Ceremony in Chicago as part of the APTA TRANSform Conference and EXPO.
