SEBASTIAN – The National Weather Service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Sebastian, Barefoot Bay, and Micco until 7:00 p.m. tonight.

At 6:14 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located west of Palm Bay and Malabar moving east at 25 mph. In addition, another storm was detected in Micco and Sebastian moving east from I-95.

There have been wind gusts of up to 60 mph detected along with quarter size hail in both of these storms.

“Hail damage to vehicles is expected, expect wind damage to roofs, siding, and trees,” the National Weather Service said.

For your protection, move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.

We will update when the storm has passed.

UPDATE: The storm has passed with minimal wind damage.
