The Week 3 Sebastian River High School (SRHS) football players’ spotlight will feature Jonathan Tumblin & Brendan T. Sposato, both chosen by their coaches.

Jonathan Tumblin (#6)

Jonathan Tumblin, a senior at Sebastian River High School, boasts a GPA of 3.2. With five years of football experience under his belt—two in Little League and three with SRHS—he primarily takes on the roles of inside linebacker, running back, and blocking back. After graduation, he aspires to extend his football career into college.

Tumblin turns to his coaches for inspiration on and off the gridiron.

“The coaches drive me to be the best I can be, whether on the field, in the classroom, or life in general,” Tumbin told Sebastian Daily.

Furthermore, Tumblin wishes to express his gratitude to his family for their unwavering support.

“I want to thank my mom, grandma, granddad, brothers, and sisters cause without them, I wouldn’t be who I am today and wouldn’t have come as far as I have. I love making them proud, and I’ll do that this year,” Tumblin stated.

Brendan T. Sposato (#23)

Brendan T. Sposato is a diligent student with a 3.8 GPA. After completing high school, the senior aims to play football in college while pursuing a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. His career goal is to serve as a K9 handler for the Sebastian Police Department.

Standing at 6 feet and weighing 210 pounds, Sposato has been involved in football since he was 7 years old. While his primary position is inside linebacker, his versatility on the field is evident. Throughout high school, he has also played as an outside linebacker, defensive end, running back, fullback, and tight end. Though he hasn’t secured any committable offers yet, he has been in touch with several Division 1, Division 2, and Division 3 college programs.

Sposato speaks highly of his Sebastian River High School coaches, attributing much of his success to their guidance.

“My coaches mean everything to me. They invest in me and challenge me to play the sport I love. Not only are they incredible leaders on Friday nights, but they also exude an abundance of character off the field,” Sposato told Sebastian Daily.

“At this point in my life, I need good male role models. Men like Coach Freeman, Coach Butler, Coach Harris, and Coach Perry push me to be a better young man and help me realize my true potential as a player on the team. Traits like responsibility, leadership, hard work, grit, loyalty, humility, teamwork, and self-sacrifice for something bigger than yourself are all lessons that have been poured into me by my coaches. I will cherish the memories, lessons, and experiences they have poured into me forever,” Sposato added.

Beyond the football field, Sposato enjoys various activities such as exercising, gaming, watching films, and socializing with friends and family. He also attends services at Calvary Chapel in Vero Beach every week.

In a more professional context, Sposato works at Waldo’s Restaurant, volunteers at the Women’s Refuge, and is an active member of the Sebastian Police Department’s Public Safety Cadets program.

“I thank God for His projection on and off the field and His blessings. I thank my mother and father for always going above and beyond to make my dreams a reality. They have unselfishly provided my every need and continue to give me a ton of advice and life experience to help me better handle decisions as a young man,” Sposato stated.
