This week’s fishing update for Sebastian Inlet mirrors our previous report, which was marked by gusty winds and rough seas with mostly catfish. However, before the weekend’s downturn, anglers reeled in black drum, pompano, Spanish mackerel, and notably large bluefish.
Wayne “Snookman” Landry said cooler water temperatures at the inlet also disrupted the weekend fishing.
“The water temperature took a nosedive, plummeting to a chilly 65-69 degrees from the balmy 74 degrees noted just two weeks prior. Throughout my weekend observations across the various fishing spots, the catch was predominantly catfish, alongside a smattering of smaller ‘schoolie’ bluefish,” Landry said.
A remarkable event unfolded on Saturday when an angler caught and carefully released a magnificent 6-foot bull shark, guaranteeing its well-being after the catch. The encounter was the only excitement for anglers on an otherwise challenging weekend.
Sebastian Daily’s prediction for prime fishing days last week proved accurate for Wednesday and Thursday, while the weekend was less favorable. On those days, anglers caught black drum, pompano, Spanish mackerel, and sizeable bluefish due to the warmer waters.

Fishing Weather
This week will see a brief warm-up, with temperatures climbing to 82 degrees, before a cold front on Friday, when the high will drop to 73.
Tuesday, Wednesday, and Sunday are projected to be optimal fishing days. Despite this, southeast wind gusts of 25 mph on Tuesday and Wednesday may pose a challenge, though winds are expected to shift to a milder west breeze of 5 to 10 mph by Sunday.
