Health officials are reporting 3 confirmed coronavirus cases in Sebastian, Florida.

As we stated yesterday in our Sebastian Daily newscast, we expected the numbers to go up.

There are 44 cases in Indian River County, Florida. 6 patients are non-residents. Brevard County, our neighbor to the north, now has 51 confirmed COVID-19 cases.

The Indian River County patients are 26 men and 18 women between the ages of 8 to 84. There are 6 people hospitalized, and no deaths.

About 436 people tested negative in Indian River County.

Cleveland Clinic, Indian River Hospital, is providing drive-through testing by appointments from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days a week. To make an appointment, call the hospital at 772-226-4846.

Florida

The big concern right now is the state of Florida. The daily cases are soaring steadily.

Florida now has 9,585 total cases (9,248 are residents, 337 are non-Florida residents), and there have been 163 deaths. Over 1,215 people are hospitalized in the state. About 82,137 people have tested negative in Florida.

Here’s some data on the number of new cases per day in Florida:

  • 3/24 – 286 cases
  • 3/25 – 504 cases
  • 3/26 – 546 cases
  • 3/27 – 678 cases
  • 3/28 – 737 cases
  • 3/29 – 903 cases
  • 3/30 – 875 cases
  • 3/31 – 938 cases
  • 4/1 – 1,100 cases
  • 4/2 – 1,300 cases

So far, the new cases in Florida peaked on Thursday, April 2, 2020.

United States

According to numbers by the CDC, there are 245,646 cases, and there have been 6,068 deaths.

The number of people recovering from the virus is 9,311 in the United States (almost doubled since yesterday).

Global

Around the world, there are 1,039,166 cases of coronavirus and over 55,092 people have died. Approximately 219,019 people have recovered from the virus worldwide.

Sebastian

Right now there are still 3 coronavirus cases in Sebastian. We expect this number to go up. Please follow the CDC guidelines and stay home.

For now, if you are 65 or older, or have an illness or chronic condition, please stay home.
