Barefoot Bay Performers and Friends will star in StarDate 1970 a spoof of the old TV show Star Trek from the late ’60s and early ’70s. It will be performed March 9th – 12th at the Barefoot Bay Community Center (Building A) at 7:00 pm each night.
Director-writer Dennis Love has created an adaption for the stage and called it StarDate 1970. The cast is made-up of local Barefoot Bay residents and a few others from the local area.
The starship is under attack from a race of alien beings that have intercepted radio transmissions from the year 1970. The song they intercepted was about war and death. They now believe that all humanity needs to be eradicated before they do irreparable damage to the universe.
Captain James T Jirk and crew must convince them that music is just a form of creative expression, these alien beings however, don’t understand creative expression. The crew goes back in time to bring the music of the 70’s to them directly. They are hoping to save all humanity from destruction.
Tickets can be purchased at the Barefoot Bay Recreation District, located at 625 Barefoot Bay Blvd. on Monday’s & Tuesday’s 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm.
