Vero Beach man indicted in grandmother’s killing

VERO BEACH — A 29-year-old Vero Beach man accused of killing his grandmother has been indicted by a grand jury on first-degree murder and related charges.

Nicholas Ivey was indicted Aug. 4 on charges of first-degree murder, tampering with evidence as a capital felony, grand theft of a motor vehicle and criminal use of personal identification information, according to Indian River County court documents.

Ivey told Indian River County sheriff’s officials in February that he killed his 76-year-old grandmother, Patricia Dibella. He was formally charged with murder on June 3.

Authorities said the killing occurred at the home the two shared on Fairways Circle. Ivey had been held at the Indian River County Jail without bond since his arrest in early February.

The case remains pending in Indian River County court.
