SEBASTIAN – Several people are sharing an interview that was with Hollywood actor Robert Downey Jr about his decision to move to Sebastian, Florida.

This town has a lot of celebrities who travel through it, and one resident is legendary musician Arlo Guthrie. Therefore, the story that Downey is moving to the area isn’t too difficult to believe.

However, the article and interview is a hoax, and it’s from a fake news website owned by spammers.

The spammers created a URL and website to look like a local TV station. They try and get users to share the link to drive traffic to their fake site.

This is an old practice from the 1990’s when spammers used e-mail as a way to drive traffic. But today, we have social media.

Facebook is adding new procedures to stop this activity with tools to allow users to report these sites.
