VERO BEACH — The Environmental Learning Center (ELC) is opening its doors to families, nature enthusiasts, and outdoor adventurers for a free admission weekend on June 14-15, 2025, in celebration of National Get Outdoors Day and Father’s Day.
From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., you can visit the ELC’s 64-acre campus on the lagoon island for free. It’s a great chance to spend time with family or friends while enjoying Florida’s beautiful nature.
The ELC, a nonprofit nature center dedicated to environmental education, invites the community to unplug and reconnect with nature.
“No need for reservations or a special ticket,” said Barbara Schlitt Ford, Executive Director. “Just come out and enjoy nature. There’s something restorative and joyful about spending time outdoors with the people who matter most.”
What to Expect
Guests can look forward to a range of engaging activities, including:
- Scenic Exploration: Wander along boardwalks, native plant gardens, and a sustainability walk with stunning lagoon views.
- Interactive Fun: Get hands-on at the Living Lagoon touch tank and aquariums, perfect for curious minds of all ages.
- Family-Friendly Play: Kids can let loose at the nature playscape and imagination stations designed for creative outdoor fun.
- Tranquil Trails: Have fun exploring trails on your own for birdwatching or enjoying picnics with family and friends.
