Insite Solutions, Inc., the developer of the new Spirit of Sebastian subdivision, said construction to rebuild Old Dixie Highway to install County water and sewer is set to begin soon.
The property, annexed into the City of Sebastian in 2018, is located west of Old Dixie Highway, south of CR-512 in Sebastian. The initial phase of the project will offer 208 single-family units.
“The work is being performed by Sheltra and Sons Contracting, and they are projecting that the job will take 30-40 days to complete,” Chuck Mechling of Insite Solutions, Inc. told Sebastian Daily.
Here’s the plan for construction:
- Beginning on Monday, October 17, 2022, electronic message boards will be placed at the intersections of County Road 512 and Old Dixie Hwy and of US1 and Old Dixie Hwy.
- Beginning on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, construction will commence on the water and sewer lines and to rebuild the road from the entrance of the Spirit of Sebastian to where it connects to the County water and sewer.
Mechling said the new section of the road had been designed and approved to meet County code.
The Spirit of Sebastian will become the first natural gas community in Sebastian. It will feature underground utilities and boating & RV storage. Some remedies will include a center for hosting events and a playground area.
Mechling and his company have been developing in Indian River County for 30 years. Some of their other subdivisions include Collier Club and SandCrest, both in Sebastian.
