Soon, the Spirit of Sebastian subdivision will start reconstructing Old Dixie Highway to implement County water and sewer systems.
In 2018, this land was incorporated into Sebastian city. It is positioned west of Old Dixie Highway and south of CR-512 in Sebastian. The project’s first phase will provide 208 standalone family homes.
“The work is being performed by Sheltra and Sons Contracting, and they are projecting that the job will take 30-40 days to complete,” Chuck Mechling of Insite Solutions, Inc. told Sebastian Daily.
Here’s the plan for construction:
- Beginning on Monday, October 17, 2022, electronic message boards will be placed at the intersections of County Road 512 and Old Dixie Hwy and of US1 and Old Dixie Hwy.
- Beginning on Tuesday, November 1, 2022, construction will commence on the water and sewer lines and to rebuild the road from the entrance of the Spirit of Sebastian to where it connects to the County water and sewer.
Mechling confirmed that the new road section has been designed and sanctioned according to County standards.
The Spirit of Sebastian is set to be Sebastian’s first community to use natural gas. It will incorporate underground utilities and spaces for boat & RV storage. Additional features will include a center for event hosting and a playground area.
With 30 years of experience in Indian River County, Mechling and his company have created other subdivisions like Collier Club and SandCrest, both also located in Sebastian.
