A 43-year-old woman from Roseland was struck and killed by a vehicle on Interstate 95 in Brevard County on Christmas Day.
The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) told Sebastian Daily that the incident occurred around 9:38 p.m. near mile marker 160.
The woman, after she was involved in a previous crash, had left her disabled vehicle, which was obstructing the center lane facing south without lights, and was walking east on the interstate.
A Mitsubishi Outlander driven by a 58-year-old woman from Rockledge was heading northbound in the center lane. In an attempt to avoid the disabled car, the Outlander driver swerved to the right but tragically struck the Roseland woman.
The victim was transported to Holmes Regional Hospital, where she was pronounced deceased. The driver of the Outlander was unharmed.
FHP has not released the name of the victim killed in the crash. The crash is still under investigation.
