SEBASTIAN – An 18-year-old woman was killed Friday afternoon when a tire tread separated on the Toyota Prius she was driving and crashed into a pole, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
Troopers told Sebastian Daily the vehicle left the road and crashed, killing the driver.
The crash happened about 3 p.m. at mile marker 162, a few miles south of Micco Road as the vehicle was northbound on Interstate 95.
The FHP identified the driver as Gia Katelin Alban of Kissimmee, Florida.
The crash remains under investigation.
Last month, there were approximately three crashes on I-95 a few miles apart in the same vicinity, including a Sebastian couple.
