Mrs. Kerilyn Elizabeth Redish, 43, of Vero Beach, Florida passed away surrounded by her loving family Friday, September 24, 2021 at Sebastian River Medical Center.

Kerilyn was born in Rochester, Michigan. After living with her family in Arkansas for several years, she spent the majority of her life living in Texas. She attended school in Gainesville Texas, and then received her Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Texas Woman’s University in 1999. While going to college she was actively employed at the Boys and Girls club of Gainesville Texas, and young adults still recall the difference she made in their lives.

Following her graduation, Keri served in the Peace Corps for two years, living in Senegal West Africa providing education in health and AIDS prevention. When she returned home she taught in the Irving school district in Texas.

In 2012, Kerilyn and her daughter Ava moved to the Treasure Coast. She was teacher at Sebastian River High School for 8 years before changing employment to Keiser University, where she was assisting the Treasure Coast school districts in decreasing the graduation dropout rate. Education and helping those students that only needed “a little help” to succeed rather than having them fail was her passion.

Always striving for improvement within her life in an effort to guide others Kerilyn was nearing completion of her Master’s Degree. There was not anything more important to her than her family, and she truly LOVED her life.

In 2018, Kerilyn married her beloved soulmate Jim Redish. Anyone who saw them together could tell how they adored each other, and Keri loved having the large “bonus” family she married into. She would always say, “my heart is so full.”

As a devoted educator at Sebastian River High School, the students and staff became an extended family for her. From her community involvement to her church, she seized each day as an opportunity to further the lives of others. Anyone who ever met her, loved her.

Survivors include husband James Redish and their children Ava, Julia, Jensen, Justin, and Erica all of Vero Beach, her mother Sharon Herman of Sebastian, brother Thomas Herman (Jennifer) (William, Gabriel, Kristina, Kortney) of Sebastian, sister Pamela Scott (Damian) (Alexis, Leighton, Reese) of Fort Worth, Texas, maternal grandmother, Beatrice McKinney of Sebastian, paternal grandmother Agatha Herman of St. Clair Shores, Michigan, mother-in-law Mary Lu Sturgis Redish of Vero Beach, Brother in law Jeff Redish (Gillie, Reese, Lulu) , Aunts and Uncles: Joe and Karen Herman Chesterfield Michigan, Carol and Gary Jones, Twin Falls Idaho, Maryanne and Lief Rolke, Germany, Ina Ottens Netherlands, Denise Emerine and Deana Vargo, Lawrenceville, Georgia, Dennis and Linda McKinney, Skokie Illinois, Fred Land, Warren Michigan, and numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father Michael Howard Herman, paternal grandfather William Herman, maternal grandfather Dennis McKinney, Paternal Aunt Lynne Land, and father-in-law Jack Redish.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Indian River County, 1729 17th Avenue, Vero Beach, FL 32960, or any Sebastian River High School organization that benefits the students.

The family will receive friends Thursday, September 30th from 6-8 pm at Strunk Funeral Home 1623 N Central Ave, Sebastian Fl 32958 and preceding the service from 10-12 Noon, Friday, October 1, 2021 at Crossroads Church 10205 US1 , Sebastian FL 32958 with a funeral service celebrating her life beginning at 12pm at the church.

Please come dressed in beautiful colors like Keri loved. *There will be a live stream of services. I will give link when available. *

Arrangements are by Strunk Funeral Homes & Crematory, Sebastian, Florida. A guest book is available at www.strunkfuneralhome.com.
