VERO BEACH — Vero Beach City Council approved a lease Tuesday for a four-story, 116-room Marriott hotel on airport property just outside the terminal at Vero Beach Regional Airport.
Interim airport director Brian Dembeck said the deal follows roughly three years of negotiations. He said the hotel will give passengers a place to stay next door and walk to the terminal.
“They’re going to have a hotel right next door that they can come, they can stay, wait for their flight, and then go right over to the terminal,” Dembeck said. The site sits along Aviation Boulevard, outside the terminal gates.
Chad Maxey, senior vice president of Diversified Companies, the developer, said the location also serves families and players at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex down the street.
“We feel this is a great location to have a hotel that’s going to be able to provide amenities to the airport and also to the families and kids that are going to play baseball,” Maxey said.
The hotel will include a “home run dugout amenity” for families. Maxey said kids will be able to play virtual baseball inside before heading across the street to the diamond and Major League Baseball players.
Brian Cartland, vice president of economic development for the Indian River County Chamber of Commerce, said the hotel supports broader local business recruitment.
“This hotel is going to help target industry growth by giving those companies that are looking at the area some additional alternatives for some great high-end options,” Cartland said.
Developers said construction is expected to begin next year, with completion by the end of 2028.
