Indian River County officials announced Saturday that all city and county beaches would close at the end of the day Sunday amid the coronavirus pandemic.

“The beach access points will be closed,” Indian River County spokesman Brian Sullivan told Sebastian Daily.

Sullivan said all access points have gates, which will be closed to prevent people from using the public beaches.

Brevard County is expected to make a similar announcement about its beaches soon.

On Saturday, the beaches were bustling, with locals wanting to get out for some fresh air and sun.

The public can enjoy the beach on Sunday until they close.
