GIFFORD — Deputies arrested Tiffany Clarke late last night in connection with three separate vandalism incidents that hit local churches and the Gifford Historical Museum, the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office said.
Night shift deputies responded to a church on 45th Street in Gifford after the property was vandalized. Clarke was found nearby with white paint on her hands consistent with the damage, investigators said.
She entered the property, took a paint bucket belonging to the ministry and used it to deface the sidewalk, causing roughly $700 in damage. Clarke is also linked to the earlier incidents in which numerous signs were painted over at the properties.
The vandalism over the past two days damaged plaques, benches and signage across the three locations. Yesterday, Sebastian Daily reported that a historical marker, monument, bench and sign were damaged at the Gifford Historical Museum.
Clarke was arrested and booked into the Indian River County Jail.
“The IRCSO takes crimes against our community’s houses of worship seriously, and we want to thank the property owners for their cooperation in this investigation,” the sheriff’s office said in its release.
