VERO BEACH – A woman called police after a man was doing ‘donuts’ and running after her in the Checkers parking lot in Vero Beach, according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office.
Upon arrival, a deputy spotted a man next to a silver and red scooter. He was identified as 24-year-old Robert Joseph Fishman.
“I gave Fishman a loud and clear command to stay next to his moped. However, Fishman advised he was not doing anything wrong and began to walk away from me,” the deputy said.
Fishman walked over to a table that had food on it. He told the deputy he was just eating his food.
The deputy explained to Fishman that someone called law enforcement because he was doing donuts with his scooter and chasing after them.
When the deputy asked Fishman to get up and walk in front of his patrol vehicle, he kept asking “why?” The deputy attempted to detain him, but he began to pull away and tense up until he was finally secured.
The complainant approached the deputy and said she was parked waiting for her food in the parking lot when Fishman approached her and said “nice fu**ing parking spot.”
The woman got scared for her safety and left. As she was leaving, Fishman began to chase after her while throwing his hands up in the air.
A records check showed Fishman was currently on parole. He was arrested and transported to the Indian River County Jail where he was charged with Resisting Arrest, Disorderly Conduct, and Violation of Parole.
