VERO BEACH — United Way of Indian River County is calling on local nonprofits, churches, and schools to submit projects for its 30th Annual Day of Caring, a community-wide volunteer event set for Saturday, October 11, 2025.
Sponsored by Publix Super Markets, this milestone event will bring together hundreds of volunteers for a day of hands-on service to make a lasting impact across the county.
Last year, over 500 volunteers tackled 49 projects, from sprucing up community spaces and painting classrooms to assembling early literacy kits and preparing meals. This year, United Way will expand the event’s reach, inviting organizations to propose projects that can be completed in about four hours and deliver benefits to the community.
“But every Day of Caring, we see what makes this community so special. Neighbors step up to support one another. There’s laughter, teamwork, and an overwhelming sense of hope. It’s a reminder that the people of Indian River County are its greatest strength,” said Meredith Egan, CEO of United Way of Indian River County.
The day will kick off with a breakfast rally at Holman Stadium at the Jackie Robinson Training Complex, with volunteers heading to their project sites by 9:00 AM. United Way handles logistics and matches volunteer teams to projects based on need and availability. Organizations don’t need to be United Way partners to participate, making the event accessible to all community groups.
United Way of Indian River County, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, works year-round to support the health, education, and financial stability of local residents. By mobilizing community resources, the organization addresses immediate needs while building long-term solutions.
Interested organizations can submit project proposals at unitedwayirc.org/day-of-caring by the August 30, 2025, deadline. For assistance, contact Amanda Morgan at Amanda.Morgan@UnitedWayIRC.org or (772) 567-8900, ext. 120.
