VERO BEACH — The Humane Society of Vero Beach and Indian River County is teaming up again with the BISSELL Pet Foundation for Empty the Shelters, a reduced-fee adoption event on:
- Dates: Sept. 18th – 30th
- Hours: Monday through Friday – 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. & Saturday and Sunday – 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Location: 6230 77th St.
The shelter will cut fees for most dogs and cats during the two-week event, repeating a campaign it held earlier this year.
“This is the third time this year we’ve teamed up with BISSELL Pet Foundation for this adoption event,” said Nichola Redmond, HSVB chief executive officer. “Unfortunately, our shelter never is actually empty, as we receive animals almost daily. We have so many dogs and cats that are eagerly looking for their furever homes. We are so happy the community is equally eager to meet and add these pets into their homes.”
Event Pricing
- $70 for puppies 6 months to 1 year
- $50 for dogs 1 to 8 years
- Kittens 6 months and under are $70 (no adoption fee for a second kitten taken home at the same time)
- Cats 7 months to 8 years are $35
(Those rates are well below the shelter’s regular adoption fees.)
Empty the Shelters, launched in 2016, is billed as the country’s largest funded adoption event. Organizers say it has placed almost half a million pets in homes across the United States and Canada.
