SEBASTIAN — Indian River County will join communities worldwide on Thursday, June 25, 2026, in an attempt to break a World Record during the World’s Largest Swimming Lesson.
The free event invites children ages 3 to 10 to learn basic water safety skills while helping set a new global participation record. Organizers hope to get as many young swimmers as possible into pools across Indian River County and around the globe.
Two local Aquatic Centers will host the one-hour sessions:
- Gifford Aquatic Center: Session runs from 11 a.m. to noon at 4895 43rd Ave. in Vero Beach.
- The North County Aquatic Center: Session takes place from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at 9450 County Road 512 in Sebastian.
Experienced instructors will guide participants through essential water safety techniques in a supportive, fun environment. Every child who enters the water will contribute to the record attempt.
“This is your chance to say ‘I was there when we broke the world record,'” event promoters said in a statement.
The program emphasizes drowning prevention through early education and hands-on practice.
