Christmas in July, to benefit Shop with a Cop in Indian River County, will be Saturday, July 20, 2019, at 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Riverview Park in Sebastian, Florida.

Christmas in July was created to ensure that the upcoming holiday season is a memorable one for the children in our area. There are many children in Indian River County that would not have anything to open or give for Christmas if it wasn’t for the annual Shop with a Cop event.

Riverview Park will have games, entertainment, DJ Shhh-oop, auctions, raffles, vendor, and food. So, show your support for this fantastic cause to benefit the children of our community. Plus Santa Claus will be making a surprise visit, have your cameras ready.

Shop With A Cop

Shop With A Cop was created to help children/families who may be facing financial restraints and may not even have a home to go to at the end of each day.

Every year, a few weeks prior to Christmas, 150 kids are chosen to participate in Shop with a Cop. The children are brought to Walmart by buses and greeted by different members of different law enforcement agencies. These officers, deputies, and Florida Highway Patrolman all donate their time to make sure these children have a Christmas to remember.

With donations and fundraising events such as Christmas in July, money is raised to help purchase Walmart gift cards. Each participating officer is assigned a child between the ages of 5-17, and given a gift card of $100 to go shopping.

How to get involved or fill out an application for your child

If you would like more information about how you can help or how you can fill out an application for your child to participate, contact Roberta Barker at the Sebastian Police Department at (772) 589-5233 ext. 8508 or the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office at (772) 978-6248.
