VERO BEACH — The BISSELL Pet Foundation is teaming up again with the Humane Society of Vero Beach & Indian River County for its summer Empty the Shelter pet adoption event.
The national program, which has helped more than 400,000 pets find homes since 2016, lowers adoption fees at participating shelters across the U.S. and Canada. It is the largest funded adoption event in the country.
Nichola Redmond, chief executive officer of the Humane Society of Vero Beach & Indian River County, said the shelter is at full capacity and ready for the community to step up.
“We are always excited to partner with the BISSELL Pet Foundation for this adoption event,” Redmond said. “Currently we’re at full capacity and have so many adorable dogs and cats eager to find their fur-ever homes. We are grateful for this opportunity.”
The event runs July 5-26 at the shelter, 6230 77th St., Vero Beach. Hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
Reduced fees during the event are $70 for puppies 6 months to 1 year old, $50 for dogs 1 to 8 years old, $70 for kittens 6 months and under (with a second kitten free) and $35 for cats 7 months to 8 years old.
Available animals can be viewed anytime on the shelter’s website at www.hsvb.org
