SEBASTIAN — All charges have been dropped against a School District of Indian River County bus driver who was arrested last month on a child abuse charge, her attorney said.
Tracy Marie Alpy, 65, of Sebastian, was taken into custody Sept. 10 after investigators reviewed onboard video from an Aug. 24 after-school route. According to an arrest affidavit, the footage showed Alpy grab a student’s hand after the child repeatedly left his seat and raised a middle finger toward her.
Her attorney, Andrew Metcalf, told Sebastian Daily that the state attorney’s office dismissed the case after reviewing the evidence.
“This lady has been a school bus driver for many years. She didn’t injure the child,” Metcalf said.
Metcalf said Alpy has never had a criminal record and that he is applying to have the case expunged. He also said she remains employed as a school bus driver for the Indian River County school district.
The student involved was not identified because of their age.
