Last Friday morning, residents along the Indian River Lagoon near Micco, close to the St. Sebastian River, were drawn by the unusual sight of two helicopters hovering low over a nearby island.
The activity prompted speculation among locals, with some wondering if it was a military operation or a film production.
On Tuesday, we got word that it might be Praetorian Group International conducting a training experience. They are a Brevard County-based company led by Jeff Cotto, who confirmed the helicopters were part of their operations.
“Yes, we were conducting training operations out there,” Cotto told Sebastian Daily.
Praetorian Group International is a veteran-owned company specializing in elite firearms training, security consulting, and personal protection services. Owned and operated by former U.S. Special Operations professionals, the company has built a reputation for its expertise in planning and executing counter-terrorism missions, as well as training Special Operations Forces and law enforcement personnel.
The company offers a wide range of specialized services, including surveillance and counter-surveillance, sniper operations, aerial carbine operations, vehicle threat interdiction, asymmetric breaching, close-quarters battle (CQB), and small unit tactics.
In addition to its training programs, Praetorian Group operates a shooting range in Cocoa, where it hosts monthly long-range shooting events that push marksmanship skills beyond 1,000 yards.
Friday’s helicopter activity was part of a routine training exercise, though specific details regarding the operation were not disclosed. The presence of such high-level training in the region highlights Brevard County’s role as a hub for advanced security and defense activities.
Praetorian Group International continues to serve as a key player in the defense and security sector, bringing world-class expertise to both local and global clients. Visit their Facebook page to view a video of last Friday’s training exercise.
