A severe thunderstorm watch has been issued for Indian River County and Brevard County. The storm watch includes Sebastian, Vero Beach, Fellsmere, Roseland, and Micco.
“Scattered lightning storms will develop and move east to northeast at 25 to 35 mph,” the National Weather Service (NWS) said in a statement.
This afternoon, the storms will move through our area and push offshore through the late evening. An isolated waterspout or two will be possible.
“Main storm threats with any strong storms will be frequent lightning, small hail, gusty winds 40 to 50 mph, and locally heavy downpours. However, there will be the potential for isolated severe storms, producing quarter-sized hail and localized damaging gusts to 60 mph. A brief tornado or two will also be possible,” the NWS said.
