The lack of rain is becoming a concern for our area, but we also have to keep in mind that it’s August. It’s certainly not the rainy season.
Conditions are dry around Sebastian and Fellsmere, and south Brevard County is no different. Last week, a recent fire in western Micco showed how quickly a wildfire spreads when things are dry, as several acres ignited in just a few minutes.
There’s only a tiny chance of rain this week, with heat index values reaching 103 to 105 in various areas. Winds are strong out of the east and southeast at 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.
But on Friday and early Saturday, the wind changes out of the southwest may increase our rain chance from late Friday through Sunday.
Here are the temperatures this week (low/high):
- Monday 90/76
- Tuesday 91/76
- Wednesday 91/75
- Thursday 91/74
- Friday 92/73
- Saturday 92/73
- Sunday 90/73
We are also keeping an eye on the tropical wave that will likely become a depression this week. Depending on where it travels, the storm system could bring a lot of rain to our area.
At this time, there’s no threat of a tropical storm or hurricane in Sebastian, Florida. However, Sebastian Daily will keep you updated.
