PALM BAY — The Palm Bay police department is investigating the death of a man after his body was discovered on Tuesday, along the Indian River shoreline in Brevard County.
Officers responded around 4 a.m. to the intersection of U.S. 1 and Kingswood Drive Northeast following a report of a body in the water near the shoreline, authorities said. The man was found in the river, and his identity has yet to be publicly released.
The cause of death was not immediately known, and officials have withheld additional details while the investigation proceeds. Palm Bay police confirmed they are treating the case as a death investigation while awaiting results from the medical examiner.
The discovery occurred early Tuesday morning, May 12, causing a rapid response from law enforcement, who secured the scene and began gathering evidence from the shoreline. No foul play has been confirmed or ruled out at this stage of the probe.
