SEBASTIAN – When Jersey Mike’s Subs in Sebastian, Florida opened at the Riverwalk Plaza in Roseland, a lot of people said they didn’t have a chance because they are next to Publix.
Jersey Mike’s has done a great job staying busy in a such a competitive market. The owner is a young entrepreneur who enjoys talking to customers as he slices up fresh deli meat for each sub. The restaurant also has a dedicated staff with hard-working employees.
You have to try the Jersey Mike’s Italian sub, also known as, The Original Italian. It comes with provolone, ham, prosciuttini, cappacuolo, salami, and pepperoni. This is one of their signature subs, which they call an “authentic Jersey-style Italian sub.” Order that with the fresh rosemary parm bread, and see what you think. The bread is always fresh.
When getting the Italian, ask for it “Mike’s Way,” which comes with onions, lettuce, tomatoes, olive oil blend, red wine vinegar, and spices.
I have never had a bad sub from Jersey Mikes. I always encourage people to try a different sub if they didn’t like one in particular. The owner is also open-minded and loves to hear feedback.
There is the argument of the price, which Jersey Mike’s is a bit more expensive than Publix subs. There are different sizes when comparing these two stores. For example, you can get the Giant Italian sub for about $14, which larger than a whole publix sub.
Jersey Mike’s also piles the meat on, with no shortcuts. I’ve been to some places where they give you one slice of meat, and then charge you extra if you want more.
Watch out for places that already have the meat and cheese pre-sliced. We don’t know how long it’s been sitting in the fridge. You get the most flavor from cheese and meat when it’s sliced fresh with each sandwich.
Check it out and let us know if you like it. Jersey Mike’s Subs is located at 13513 U.S. Highway 1 (Riverwalk Plaza in Roseland next to Publix) in Sebastian.
