SEBASTIAN – Malek, John George age 71 passed away on May 2nd, 2019 in Vero Beach, FL. Born in Queens, NY and grew up in Miami, FL with his parents Antoinette Matsangas-Malek and George Najib Malek.

He was a graduate of South Miami Senior High School and attended classes at Barry University and the University of Miami.

John enjoyed a wonderful career as an insurance broker, including working with Johnson’s Insurance Agency in the Florida Keys, Dick Anderson and Associates Insurance Agency in Miami, and Allstate Insurance in Vero Beach and Sebastian, FL.

John’s greatest love was giving. He was President of the Chamber of Commerce in Sebastian, FL wherein he headed up the Riverside Park July 4th Celebration for many years, as well as creating Sebastian’s first Winter Wonderland community event. He always believed in helping those in need.

John is survived by his children Naji and Christy, and his sister’s Alexis, Victoria, and Joan. He has numerous nieces, nephews, 2 grandchildren, and countless friends.

A Celebration of Life service will be held 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM on Monday, May 13, 2019 at Strunk Funeral Home, Vero Beach, FL. A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10:00 AM on Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church, Fort Pierce, Florida with Father John Mangakis, celebrant. Committal service will take place at South Florida National Cemetery, Lake Worth, Florida at 1:15 PM.

Arrangements are entrusted to Strunk Funeral Home, Sebastian, Florida.
