People are catching bluefish, redfish, jacks, black drums, and others near the Sebastian Inlet. However, the North Jetty and catwalk remain closed until further notice.

The Inlet has been active this past week with baitfish around the jetties and docks. The birds are also active near the area, so anglers should use caution not to hook or tangle.

“Snookman” Wayne Landry said if you accidentally capture a bird, please unhook or untangle it. Do not cut the line for any reason.

Jack crevalles, bluefish, and snook are biting in the surf. However, anglers say most of the snook have been undersized. On the beaches, many anglers are catching them using artificial lures.

Anglers are catching black drum, pompano, sheepshead, Spanish mackerel, and some flounder at the South Jetty pier. Flounder reopened on Dec. 1.

Live baits with pinfish appear to be the choice, as well as finger mullet and shrimp. But those tossing small jigs and silver spoons are also seeing results.

If you plan to do some fishing, let us know what reel and tackle you used along with some fishing photos by sending us an email.
