This is an update on coronavirus cases in Indian River County and Brevard County, Florida.

Gov. Ron DeSantis announced that we will begin Phase 1 to reopen on May 4, 2020, and it’s only a matter of weeks before Phase 2 launches.

  • Sebastian: 9 cases
  • Fellsmere: 1 case
  • Palm Bay: 43 cases
  • Malabar: 1 case
  • Grant-Valkaria: 1 case
  • Barefoot Bay: 1 case
  • Micco: 0 cases
  • Vero Beach: 70 cases

Indian River County has a population of 154,000. The patients are 47 men and 33 women between the ages of 8 to 94.

Indian River County Coronavirus Cases

  • Cases: 90 (10 non-residents)
  • Deaths: 7
  • Tested Negative: 1,678
  • Hospitalizations: 24
  • Awaiting Results: 47

Brevard County has a population of 590,000. The patients are 135 men and 141 women between the ages of 1 to 94.

Brevard County Coronavirus Cases

  • Cases: 285 (7 non-residents)
  • Deaths: 8
  • Tested Negative: 8,082
  • Hospitalizations: 47
  • Awaiting Results: 1

The total number of cases, deaths, and people who have tested negative in Florida.

Florida

  • Cases: 33,690 (889 non-Florida residents)
  • Deaths: 1,268
  • Tested Negative: 348,715
  • Hospitalizations: 5,589

  • 4/16 – 1,203 cases
  • 4/17 – 1,089 cases
  • 4/18 – 747 cases
  • 4/19 – 717 cases
  • 4/20 – 754 cases
  • 4/21 – 868 cases
  • 4/22 – 709 cases
  • 4/23 – 1,225 cases
  • 4/24 – 744 cases
  • 4/25 – 803 cases
  • 4/26 – 522 cases
  • 4/27 – 764 cases
  • 4/28 – 346 cases
  • 4/29 – 527 cases

So far, the new cases in Florida peaked on April 2nd at 1,292 and April 3rd with 1,314 cases.

Cleveland Clinic, Indian River Hospital, is providing drive-through testing by appointments from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days a week. To make an appointment, call the hospital at 772-226-4846.

For now, if you are 65 or older, or have an illness or chronic condition, please stay home.
