For the past week or so, we have people dying almost every day in Indian River County and Brevard County from COVID-19, according to data released by state health officials. This is a big concern right now.

However, the number of people currently being treated for COVID-19 in Florida has dropped about 1,300 since last week.

Tests are rising, but so are the numbers of people who test negative for coronavirus in Indian River and Brevard. Data also shows that most people contracting the virus are between 25-34 years old.

The good news is, at least here in Sebastian, the number of cases are rising slowly. A couple of weeks ago they were rising sharply and it was a concern. We believe that more people are taking COVID-19 more seriously in Sebastian, wearing face masks more often, washing hands regularly, and practicing social distancing.

We also monitored the sandbar near the Sebastian Inlet for the past two weekends and boaters are keeping their distance. We are in this together, and together we will stop the spread of COVID-19.

Sebastian is still far better than most other cities and counties in Florida. You can still live YOUR LIFE and be safe.
