COVID-19 Update: 1 new case in Sebastian, 1 new reported death in Indian River County

Latest coronavirus update in Sebastian, Florida.

State and county health officials say there is one new COVID-19 case in Sebastian, and one reported death t his week in Indian River County.

There are now 10 cases in Sebastian, Florida. The latest death in Indian River County was a 69-year-old patient. All COVID-19 deaths have been between the ages of 65 to 93.

We will be talking about this later today during our newscast on our YouTube channel.

We saw three spikes, one on May 20th, May 24th, and May 28th. Since then, the daily numbers have remained low. We can expect spikes as Florida reopens.

Local:

  • Sebastian: 10 cases
  • Fellsmere: 3 cases
  • Palm Bay: 57 cases
  • Malabar: 1 case
  • Grant-Valkaria: 1 case
  • Barefoot Bay: 1 case
  • Micco: 0 cases
  • Vero Beach: 96 cases

Indian River County has a population of 154,000. The patients are 48 men and 49 women between the ages of 8 to 94.

  • Cases: 126 (11 non-residents)
  • Deaths: 10
  • Tested Negative: 5,375

Brevard County has a population of 590,000. The patients are 159 men and 174 women between the ages of 1 to 94.

Brevard County Coronavirus Cases

  • Cases: 420 (11 non-residents)
  • Deaths: 12
  • Tested Negative: 22,080

The total number of cases, deaths, and people who have tested negative in Florida.

Florida

  • Cases: 54,029 (1,395 non-Florida residents)
  • Deaths: 2,447/li>
  • Tested Negative: 939,544
  • Hospitalizations: 10,113

So far, the new cases in Florida peaked on April 2nd at 1,292 and April 3rd with 1,314 cases.

Cleveland Clinic, Indian River Hospital, is providing drive-through testing by appointments from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., seven days a week. To make an appointment, call the hospital at 772-226-4846.

For now, if you are 65 or older, or have an illness or chronic condition, please stay home. Please wear a mask if you are ill or have a health condition.
