VERO BEACH — Cleveland Clinic Indian River Hospital is offering free prostate cancer screenings this afternoon at its Scully-Welsh Cancer Center.
The screenings start at 4 p.m. Tuesday and are intended to catch prostate cancer and precancerous conditions early, before symptoms appear.
Black men ages 40 to 75 qualify. Black men with a family history of prostate cancer are eligible if they are between 30 and 75. White men ages 45 to 75 qualify, as do White men with a family history who are between 40 and 75.
Each screening includes a PSA blood test and a digital rectal exam. Participants will also meet with Dr. Jamil Syed, a urologist at the hospital.
The event is at 3555 10th Court in Vero Beach. Appointments are required and space is limited. To reserve a spot, call 772-226-4908.
