36 people currently hospitalized in Indian River County for COVID-19

We are starting to get more local numbers from the health department about the number of people currently being treated for Coronavirus in local hospitals. According to health officials, there are 36 COVID-19 patients in hospitals in Indian River County.

Florida reported 13,837 new COVID-19 cases for Wednesday. State health officials say they tested 116,311 people.

Data from the state health department shows that most people between ages 25 to 34 years old are now contracting the virus.

Sebastian now has a total of 140 cases. Unfortunately, the county health department is not providing us with the number recoveries.

There are now 1,004 ICU beds available in Florida.

To prevent another possible state-wide Florida shutdown, please help by wearing a mask in stores, wash your hands regularly, and practice social distancing.

Local:

  • Sebastian: 140 cases
  • Fellsmere: 276 cases
  • Palm Bay: 760 cases
  • Malabar: 22 cases
  • Grant-Valkaria: 15 cases
  • Barefoot Bay & Micco: 9 cases
  • Wabasso: 3 cases
  • Vero Beach: 934 cases (this number also includes Vero Lake Estates and other rural areas near Vero Beach)

Indian River County has a population of 154,000.

Brevard County has a population of 590,000.

  • Cases: 3,896
  • Deaths: 44
  • Admitted to Hospital: 250

For now, if you are 65 or older, or have an illness or chronic condition, please stay home. Please wear a mask if you are ill or have a health condition.
