VERO BEACH – A man called law enforcement after he noticed a check drawn from his account that he did not write, according to the Indian River County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim stated that the check was made out to Eva Castellanos, of Vero Beach, for $150. He claims that he never wrote the check to Castellanos.
The 21-year-old is accused of stealing a check from the victim’s checkbook and cashing it at the bank.
Deputies spoke with Castellanos at her home in Vero Beach where she denied cashing the check. When deputies showed her a copy of the check, she admitted it was her signature, but continued to deny cashing it.

While being transported, Castellanos begged the deputy to call the victim and tell him she would pay him back, so she didn’t have to go to jail.
