VERO BEACH – The Indian River County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a man in Vero Beach who claims someone broke into his home and stole all his blunts, a cell phone, and five dollars in quarters.

Deputies raced to the scene and spoke with the victim about the alleged home burglary.

The victim said he left and returned to find the back door open.

“I looked inside and he [the burglar] stole all my blunts, my girls’ cell phone, and like 5 dollars in quarters,” the victim told deputies.

A neighbor, who was very helpful describing the suspect, told deputies he saw a light-skinned black male in his 20’s, wearing red basketball shorts under jeans, and white shoes with no shirt on, walking out of the woods near the address.

“I did not observe any signs of forced entry to the door,” the deputy said. “I did not observe any signs of rummaging through, nor did I observe any signs of exit.”

Unfortunately, the victim said he doesn’t have security cameras inside or outside. He told the deputy that the stolen cell phone was already disconnected and was off.

When the deputy asked the victim more questions about the “blunts,” he would not provide any additional information.

“I also asked if he had any form of documentation pertaining to the amount stolen, he advised, ‘Nah, but it was like $150.00.'”

Deputies searched the woods and canvassed the area for a man wearing red shorts with no shirt, but came up with negative results.
