INDIAN RIVER COUNTY — Several shots rang out in a parking lot at the Orchard Grove apartment complex Thursday morning after an argument, sheriff’s officials said. No one was hurt.
Deputies responded about 9:42 a.m. to the 1800 block of Woodland Circle, just north of the Vero Beach city limits, after witnesses reported hearing a disturbance followed by what sounded like eight gunshots.
A sheriff’s spokesman said several individuals were seen fleeing the area.
A gray Chevrolet Malibu parked nearby was struck by gunfire. Bullets hit the back window and the driver’s seat, the sheriff’s office said. Crime scene detectives processed the scene and were checking for nearby surveillance video that might have captured the incident.
The investigation remains active. No arrests had been made as of Friday morning.
