On Monday, Sebastian Police Department officers responded to a call from the Best Western hotel at 1655 Highway 1.
Hotel housekeeping found a suicide note in a room that seemed empty, prompting them to alert the police. The note was left by the room’s previous occupant, 49-year-old Scott Michael Lynch, according to police.
Further investigation revealed Lynch had an active warrant from Greeley, Colorado, for sexual assault.
Police tracked Lynch to an assisted living facility, in Sebastian, where he was visiting a relative. Officers took him into custody without any trouble and transported him to the Indian River County Jail to face his warrant.
