SEBASTIAN — Police K-9 teams will showcase agility, obedience, and apprehension drills at the 2026 Treasure Coast Police K-9 Competition on Saturday, June 6, from 6:00 pm to 10:00 pm at Sebastian River High School.
Prepare to be amazed as elite law enforcement and military working dog teams race against the clock through a thrilling obstacle course that pushes both handlers and their K-9s to their limits.
The Treasure Coast Police K-9 Alliance, a nonprofit supporting K-9 teams, is hosting the competition. Tickets are $17.85 per person, and the public is welcome.
Police and military teams compete for free. Civilians can enter for a $75 donation if they are at least 19 years old and experienced in working dog training, including bite and apprehension work. Civilian participation requires prior approval and will be in a separate category.
The main event features a challenging obstacle course that starts with a simulated patrol car exit. Teams must complete tasks such as:
- Shooting simulations with simunition rounds while directing the K-9 to sit or down positions
- Multiple jumps, low crawls, tunnels, and platform carries
- A final apprehension drill with a decoy
Penalties for missed targets, incomplete obstacles, or poor teamwork are timed in added seconds. Winners have the fastest adjusted times. Special awards are given for ‘Hardest Hitting Dog’ and ‘Fastest Dog.’
All teams must compete in standard duty gear, using provided simunition firearms under safety officer supervision.
The competition proudly celebrates the incredible dedication of K-9 teams and shines a spotlight on their invaluable work. The nonprofit powers these heroes by providing lifesaving funding, top-tier equipment, and expert training, helping handlers and their dogs stay safe on the front lines.
Competitor registration remains open, and sponsors, vendors, and volunteers are also welcome to participate.
K-9 teams have secure parking at the stadium. This area is restricted from public and family access.
