VERO BEACH — The Junior League of Indian River is celebrating 35 years of building women leaders and helping the community through volunteer work.
The group is kicking off its 2026-2027 league year with a free public event. The Kickoff Party aims to welcome new and returning members and spotlight efforts to close early learning and literacy gaps in Indian River County.
During the past year, the league saw strong growth. Overall membership rose 18%, and active members jumped 55%. Members turned that energy into action through the Bloom Bag Initiative, in which they assembled and donated about 300 care packages filled with essential period supplies to local students.
The 2025-2026 Board of Directors: President Chiaka Nwosu, Secretary Trish Nardone, Treasurer Rosemary Arway, Community Impact Director Brooke Sauserman, Membership Development Director Rebekah Campbell, and Marketing & Communications Director Mackie McGuinness guided the work.
“As we look ahead to the 2026–2027 League year, I am excited about the momentum we are carrying forward,” Nwosu said. “We are especially looking forward to welcoming both current and prospective members to our Kickoff Party, where we will come together in celebration of the next 35 years of service.”
The Kickoff Party is set for August 19, 2026, at 5:30 pm at BigShots Golf Vero Beach. Attendees can meet current members, learn about the league’s mission, and explore volunteer and leadership roles. The event is open to women interested in leadership development, volunteer service, and community impact.
