VERO BEACH — The Environmental Learning Center is set to host “A Cuban Season,” an exhibition showcasing works by six Cuban artists, running from November through December 2025.
The free exhibit, curated by Susan Lavender, Sheila Lougheed and Manuel Adrian Lopez, features paintings, engravings, textiles, sculptures and mixed media from Mayra Alpízar Linares, Orestes Barrios Marañón, Roberto Braulio González Rodríguez, Salvador Lorenzo González, Bruno Paz and Candida Rodriguez. All now based in Miami, the artists will travel to Vero Beach for the event, highlighting Cuba’s vibrant artistic heritage.
A highlight of the exhibition is an Artist Meet & Greet on Nov. 7 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., open to the public at no cost. Attendees can expect live music from bongo player Brandon Putzke and Latin guitarist Manny Moreira, who recently starred in the sold-out “Beatles & Bossa” production at Riverside Theatre. Complimentary Cuban appetizers, sangria, Cuba Libres and non-alcoholic drinks will be provided, courtesy of The Schlitt-Gonzalez Real Estate Team of Coldwell Banker Paradise.
Guests will have the chance to chat with the artists about their techniques, inspirations and cultural backgrounds.
“This exhibit brings together extraordinary Cuban talent and offers our community a window into the rich artistic traditions of Cuba,” said Barbara Schlitt Ford, the center’s executive director. “We’re honored to showcase these artists’ work and create a space where art, culture and community come together.”
No reservations are needed for the meet and greet, though they’re encouraged. The exhibition will be open during the center’s regular hours through December.
The Environmental Learning Center, a 64-acre nonprofit nature center on a lagoon island, focuses on educating visitors about environmental stewardship. For details, call 772-589-5050 or visit DiscoverELC.org.
