SEBASTIAN — The Sebastian River Sharks capped off its 2025 football season with a 30-8 win over Port St. Lucie on Friday night, celebrating the victory during the team’s annual Military Night in front of a full home crowd.
The event honored military members, veterans, and local law enforcement with patriotic tributes, special recognitions, and donations from area businesses.
The night kicked off with a flyover by Capt. Tony Remudo of the Vero Beach Air Show. The Sebastian River High School Junior Reserve Officers’ Training Corps displayed a large American flag provided by Bob Edmonson.
Honoree | Staff Sgt. Launa Bailey
The 2025 Honoree is Staff Sgt. Launa Bailey, a U.S. Army Reserve laboratory technician. She joined the Army in 2011. Bailey recently completed a yearlong mobilization, earning the Army Commendation Medal for her work as a lab technician and morale, welfare, and recreation noncommissioned officer in charge. Sgt. Bailey is also a mother of five, runs a small animal farm, and serves as president of the Softball Booster Club.
School Resource Officers (SROs) Recognized
The program recognized Sebastian River Area officers Deputy Makenzie Baumann, Deputy Kyle Vazquez, Deputy Cowger, and Sgt. Ryan, with tokens of appreciation, continuing a tradition started by head coach Tyrone Perry.
Community Sponsors
Community sponsors included HG Printing, which created custom Military Night shirts for Sebastian River Area administrators and coaches; Get Fueled, which gave gift certificates to Sebastian River Area officers; and Applebee’s, which provided appetizers for the officers.
“Military Night is one of the most meaningful traditions we have,” said Coach Perry. “It’s a night where football takes a backseat to honor the real heroes among us — our military members, veterans, and officers who make it possible for our students and athletes to do what they love.”
Sebastian River High School focuses on excellence, sportsmanship, and community in its athletics programs, emphasizing achievements on the field and support for those who serve.
