VERO BEACH — The Brackett Library in Vero Beach is rolling out a series of free holiday events fostering creativity and community spirit, from crafting cards for seniors to a live concert wrapping up the festivities.
The events, hosted at the library’s location on the Indian River State College campus at 6155 College Lane, kick off with take-home holiday card kits available from Monday through Dec. 12. Participants can pick up supplies to make homemade cards, then return them to the library for delivery to local senior living facilities.
On Dec. 2 at 6 p.m., the library hosts a Paint, Take & Give Holiday Painting Party, where attendees decorate two ornaments — one to keep and one to donate for Christmas trees at county retirement homes. Registration is required due to limited space, and all supplies are provided.
“These two programs combine creativity, community and kindness,” said Hollie McDougall, branch manager of the Brackett Library. “It’s a fun way for families and individuals to celebrate the holidays while brightening someone else’s day.”
Other highlights include green screen holiday photos on Nov. 18 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., allowing families to pose in custom settings for memorable 2025 snapshots. The season closes Dec. 9 at 6 p.m. with a performance by The Dynamic Duo of the Brenna Bavis Band, featuring Brenna Bavis and Cary DeNigris singing originals, covers and possible holiday classics. The duo is completing a tour of Indian River County libraries.
